Right-to-Know Filing

Any facility storing, using or handling hazardous substances in New York City is required to complete an annual Community Right-to-Know Program (RTK) filing with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection, NYC Fire Department, and/or New York State Emergency Response Commission. This rule applies to facilities of all sizes ranging from chemical plants and power generating stations to smaller businesses, such as automotive service garages and nursing homes. These filings are due annually by March 1st. Failure to complete the filing or doing so incorrectly can result in fines up to $2,500.
