Each year in the Spring, Walden Environmental Engineering takes an informal holiday called “Walden Day” in which staff comes together to participate in an organized form of community service. “Walden Day” is a day of service to the community that’s observed each Spring on or close to our anniversary date to celebrate Walden’s Anniversary. This year we are celebrating 21 years of service.
On Friday June 10th, Walden volunteered at Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf where Walden’s own Bob LoPinto’s daughter Diane Diculescu is a Speech Pathologist.
Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf works hard to enhance the quality of life for people who are deaf or have other special communication needs. The campus is a beautiful place thanks to their hard working staff. The Walden staff had a great day working with David Harland Mill Necks Assistant Director of the 86 acres on campus and his crew painting light posts, removing stumps and weeding around campus. There are only 3 men who work the grounds at Mill Neck Manor so with our 20 plus staff and family members we hope that we made an impact on lightening their work load this spring.
After a great day of service Walden enjoyed some well-deserved beverages and food at the Oyster Bay Brewing Company.
Walden Day was certainly a day to remember and we are looking forward to giving back to our community again next spring. Thanks to everyone who participated and to Mill Neck Manor for allowing us to spend the day on your campus!
