We have extensive technical expertise in:
Tank Compliance and Monitoring
Walden routinely inspects tanks (both ASTs and USTs) and chemical and petroleum storage systems for clients to identify areas of non-compliance. We then prepare a punchlist of items to be addressed along with cost estimates for the recommended work. Let us check your facility for compliance with applicable regulations to help prevent violations and avoid potential spills.
Walden permits existing ASTs and USTs with state and/or local agencies as required by the regulations. We can file your permit applications and renewal paperwork, and help resolve any violations noted during agency inspections.
Class A/B/C Operator Compliance
NYSDEC now requires all UST systems to be managed by qualified personnel who have passed a certification exam. Many of Walden’s staff are NYSDEC-certified operators who can help your facility comply with these requirements by performing regular inspections of tank systems, operations, monitoring and recordkeeping. We also offer training to help members of your team become familiar with the tank operator information so they can pass the NYSDEC certification exam.
Chemical/Petroleum Bulk Storage System Design
Walden has designed numerous aboveground and underground storage tank (AST and UST) systems for both chemical bulk storage and petroleum bulk storage. Our engineers know the regulations and standards which apply to chemical and fuel storage and dispensing systems. We can work with you to design a tank system tailored to meet your facility’s storage needs, considering site conditions, chemical/fuel quantity demands, dispensing locations, etc.
Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plans
Walden prepares site specific Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plans detailing procedures to prevent spills. We can prepare an SPCC Plan for your facility to define standard methods to guard against spills from bulk storage systems.
Storage Tank System Installation
Once the UST/AST system designs are approved by the regulatory agency having jurisdiction over the system, Walden coordinates the contractor bidding process and then directs construction in accordance with the design and technical specifications. Walden will protect your interests during construction to ensure the project is completed on schedule and within budget.
Storage Tank System Testing
Walden coordinates and completes storage tank system testing as required by local, state, and federal regulations. We can conduct preliminary tests of your tanks and monitoring systems so that repairs can be made if needed to pass the tests to meet regulatory requirements. Walden communicates with certified tank testers and agencies to ensure that testing reports are completed in accordance with permit requirements.
Tank Design and Permitting
Walden designs UST/AST systems and coordinates with regulatory agencies to obtain required permits. We can help your facility comply with chemical and petroleum bulk storage regulations.
UST/AST Abandonment and Demolition
Walden provides complete services related to UST/AST abandonment and removal in accordance with all applicable regulations. We coordinate with clients, contractors and regulatory agencies; direct abandonment or removal and disposal activities; document on-site work; and complete any required follow up work.
On many occasions, Walden has answered the call when a spill has occurred at a client’s property. We report the spill to the appropriate regulatory agencies and arrange for spill response contractors to clean up the spill and remove any impacted soils. Walden collects samples for laboratory analysis to confirm that all contaminated materials have been removed. In most cases, this is sufficient to close the spill; however, in-situ soil and groundwater remediation is needed to remove contaminants remaining in the subsurface. We can assist clients in all aspects of spill response, focusing on cost-effective response while meeting the agencies’ requirements.
Waste Oil Management
Walden designs and coordinates installation of systems to manage waste oil collection and removal. These services will help ensure that your facility is in compliance with waste oil regulations.
Walden oversees tank system construction activities to ensure that your installation is completed in accordance with the design specifications and applicable regulations.
Walden develops cost estimates for various tank storage systems based on your facility’s needs. We provide a range of options for your consideration to help you determine what can be installed within your budget.
