Walden places a strong emphasis on health and safety in every workplace. Health and safety is paramount to your business’s success, the well-being of your workforce, and ultimately your bottom line. From safety training to compliance, Walden
has what you need. Listed below are a few of the services we provide to help ensure your safety and OSHA compliance. Remember, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
HAZCOM Overview and Plans
Each general industry facility must have a written Hazardous Communication Program (HAZCOM –29 CFR 1910.1200) plan informing employees of the hazards and identifying chemicals used at the facility to which employees might be exposed. Walden can evaluate your facility’s compliance with the HAZCOM program and assist you in developing an appropriate plan including Inventory of Chemicals, up-to-date Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), and correct labeling. We also provide effective HAZCOM training and refresher courses.
HAZWOPER Overview and Emergency Response Plans
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER – 29 CFR 1910.120) regulations establish requirements for employees that either work at “uncontrolled hazardous waste sites” or may respond to chemical emergencies at industrial facilities. Walden develops and implements written Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) that fulfill the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120 addressing site specific hazards, potential emergencies, training, personal protective equipment, medical surveillance requirements, confined space procedures, decontamination procedures, emergency response, and air monitoring procedures.
Health and Safety Plans
Walden can prepare a Health and Safety Plan (HASP) either for construction sites or general industry operations to assist you in identifying health and physical hazards that could harm your employees and develop procedures to prevent accidents. HASPs also describe actions to undertake if an accident happens.
Job Safety Analysis (Safety Planning)
Walden can provide assistance on implementing a job safety analysis to determine the physical, procedural, and/or environmental hazards that may be encountered on the job. The evaluation also considers actions of personnel which could result in accidents or injuries and describes measures that can be implemented to eliminate or control hazards. These actions will reduce the costs associated with recurring accidents and result in improved job safety and performance.
Indoor Air Quality
Walden can conduct Indoor Quality Survey (IAQ) surveys for any air contaminant on housing, commercial and industrial properties. The IAQ results are compared to recommended OSHA and American Conference of Governmental Hygienist (ACGIH) limits in order to determine if areas are safe for occupancy.
Walden is a NYSDOL Licensed Mold Assessor certified to perform inspections of properties with suspected mold issues. We conduct sampling and prepare remediation plans specific to the project based on observations and sampling results. Walden coordinates the abatement and conducts a final inspection upon completion of the mold remediation project.
OSHA: Compliance Inspection/Auditing and Training
Walden performs OSHA compliance audits of facility operations and work sites to assist in identifying OSHA compliance issues. During these mock audits, Walden also inspects written policies, procedures and recordkeeping procedures. Facility records and any OSHA correspondence are reviewed in order to assess the scope and scale of any health and safety violations. At the conclusion of our inspection, Walden prepares a report with findings and recommendations for ways in which your facility can improve OSHA compliance, along with the estimated cost to implement the various compliance steps. Walden can also assist you in providing training for several OSHA standards (noise, respiratory protection, lockout/tag out, HAZCOM, PPE).
In the event of an OSHA inspection, Walden can advise you as to how to best handle OSHA inspectors when they arrive at your facility. Walden has the expertise to manage negotiations with OSHA in order to show good faith in correcting violations and to significantly reduce any fines you are assessed.
Site Safety Plans
Walden prepares Site Safety Plans for construction site safety as required for projects in New York City. We evaluate site conditions and proposed construction activities to identify potential hazards and establish procedures to mitigate these hazards.
Legionella Compliance for Cooling Tower

Walden’s certified asbestos inspectors perform site inspections, including sampling and analysis, to determine the presence of asbestos containing material (ACM) at client facilities. We also perform oversight of asbestos abatement activities in accordance with United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) standards.
