FEMA Disaster Recovery
Being immersed in the downstate recovery efforts following Superstorm Sandy, Walden helped clients compile the documentation needed to file for reimbursement for storm related costs under the FEMA Public Assistance Program. We also interfaced with the numerous claims representatives involved for FEMA and the State agencies administering the funds. Walden’s assistance was invaluable to these entities as they struggled to get back on their feet after suffering severe losses.
Storm Mitigation and Resiliency Programs
In the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, Walden pursued a variety of funding opportunities on behalf of our clients for projects intended to strengthen infrastructure and create more resilient communities to protect against future storm impacts. Walden successfully obtained funding for clients through programs including the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, Storm Mitigation Loan Program, NY Rising Community Reconstruction Program, and various CDBG-DR programs funded by HUD. These funds are being used to implement projects such as improving drainage system infrastructure, installing emergency generators, and protecting drinking water supply wells.
NYS Archives Local Government Records Management Improvement Fund
Walden has helped municipal clients win funding for records management, website development and developing GIS data management systems.
Miscellaneous Grant Programs
Walden has filed grant applications resulting in awards for projects to resurface deteriorating roadways, install structures to remove debris from storm water drainage structures, prepare maps for asset management, etc.
Compliance with Funding Requirements
When Walden is successful in obtaining grant funding, we then assist our clients comply with all of the conditions related to the financing program. These requirements generally relate to NEPA/SEQRA environmental review, Minority/Women Owned Business Enterprise participation goals, Equal Employment Opportunity standards, and Davis Bacon prevailing wage rates
