The New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation has proposed a complete revision to 6NYCRR Part 232: Perchloroethylene Dry Cleaning Facilities. This revision will revise the existing Rule and add additional requirements for controlling air emissions from dry cleaning establishments. The new regulation will follow the Federal USEPA Guidelines for facilities, including the ban on siting facilities in residential buildings. New requirements for facilities using alternative solvents, in lieu of perchloroethylene, are established, and deadlines for removal of older equipment and unapproved solvents is provided.
Hearings for the proposed rule will be held prior to the end of the comment period. Hearings will be held at 6:00PM as follows:
- June 27th at NYS DEC, 625 Broadway, PA Room 129A/B, Albany
- June 28th at Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center, 93 Honorine Drive, Depew
- June 29th at SUNY, Stony Brook, 50 Circle Road, Room B02, Stony Brook
- June 30th at NYS DOT, 47-40 21 Street, Room 834, Long Island City
